Gaining an Egde over others
In Chinese Martial Arts, many practitioner look for ways or methods to improved their skills and techniques in order to gain an edge over others. In this current era, especially in Singapore, where time of peace and harmony surround us, fighting skills or techniques had very much been geared into sporting combat, rather then real life encounters.
With technologies evolving everyday, local pugilistic organisation is also ridding on to the world wide web technology to gain an edge over others.
About 10 years ago, when I first started to do website, it is a poorly design html static web site with no interaction for user. I wasn’t the first to do website based on wushu and there wasn’t much website on local pugilistic community.
Years later, my wushu trainee, which majority are doing course on IT and Media related subjects, told me to create Forum. So I start to look into open source scripts for good Forum. It was widely known as Bulletin Board (BB) then. It is still now.
SgWutan was a full grown website powered by PostNuke CMS and PNphpBB around 2002 and after which, many groups start to follow and mimic SgWutan, creating their own CMS and Forum.
