Gaining an Egde over others (2)
From 2005 till now, I see many pugilistic community start to produce attractive web sites, regardless in static, dynamic or hybrid. Local Wushu, Dragon and Lion Dance is definitely getting into the cyber space.
Some time back, before Singapore National Wushu Federation (SNWF) became Singapore Wushu Dragon & Lion Dance Federation (SWDLF) and before the double face smiling fatso tiger take control, I had written twice to SNWF asking whether they are interested to buy SgWutan. Twice, I get no respond from them. Maybe transaction of website is not that popular in Singapore.
Few years later, I was invited to submit a quotation for design and maintain the website for them. I quoted, but wasn’t successful in the bid… LoLx~
Local pugilistic community had definitely taken the internet to a new level. Like Singapore-Wushu.com, by Xing Ying Wushu Training Centre, which previously was just information page, had included a discussion forum to pull in more surfer. But it doesn’t seems to work well.
DeWuWushu.com, by De Wu Wushu Association, powered their website by PostNuke and PNphpBB forum. A total mimic of SgWutan. But currently, their site is off-line for maintenance and upgrading.
The Dragon & Lion Dance organisation had taken a step further in using the internet. They purchased sponsor links within Google and Yahoo!, which let them gaining an edge over others.
We didn’t see much wushu organisation purchase internet advertisment. Was it because the marketing and requirement between a wushu organisation and dragon/lion dance organisation is different?
Nonetheless, internet is seriously a potential marketing arena for our local pugilistic community. Focusing on having an online presence allows them to be searchable, especailly in this current era.
