Ah Gao, what is the character you mentioned, who added in material and it became Xing Yi Chuan?
Dai practitioners I met with, believe Guo Weihan taught Li Lao Neng. A Che Xing Yi practitioner I met in Taigu told me Li Laoneng learnt from Dai Er Lu (Not Dai Long Bang). Since it was so long ago, it is a very hard one to come to a conclusion.
Since I am a Dai Xin Yi practitioner, maybe I should just be bias and say Guo Weihan? hahahha.
Li Zheng was said to be the master of the Dai's, it is pretty clear what he did teach them, Si Ba (4 strikes), Shr Da Xing (10 large shapes), etc. Later on Dai family also learnt some Tang Lang Chuan from Jin Shikui (Dai family have Wu Tang Za Shr-something like 5 locking postures, which is supposedly based on the essence of mantis, etc.
As for Xin Yi Liu He Chuan having influence from Cha Chuan, that is also a hard one to prove. The Hui (ethnic minority in China, overall population, something like 9.8 million?), have several Jiao Men Chuan (religious boxing), Cha Chuan, Xin Yi Liu He Chuan, Qi Shi, etc. There are others I did not mention though I have not much knowledge or 1st hand experience, so I did not think it was worth mentioning.
I know a lot of masters practice more than one style of these arts (for example my shiye, Li Zun Si, is a master of Chan Chuan and also Xin Yi, plus I also know he has had training in Qi Xing as well).
I have seen some of these masters mix up the 2 arts, for example in Sol Shi (ending posture), they end a Xin Yi form with a elegant Cha Chuan move, etc. There is nothing wrong with this, but the 2 arts are very different and cannot be confused together.
Here is another take on it, this is what you can pretty much prove, Luoyang Xin Yi Liu He Chuan-Mai Zhuangtu Xin Yi Liu He Chuan-Dai Shi Xin Yi Liu He Chuan-Xing Yi Chuan-Yi Chuan, etc.
Ah Gao, you 2) conclusion is a little confusing, Li Zheng was the teacher of the Dai's to my knowledge, so proving that Mai Zhuangtu style was the root system of the Dai family arts.
There is a lot of confusion as to early history (Ming dynasty), the time of Ji Long Feng, etc. Everyone mentions the name, Cao Ji Wu, though I mentioned this to my teacher and he laughed, maybe he thinks this name is false of so insignificant, that it needed not to be mentioned.
Everyone also has the impression that Ji Long Feng taught Ma Xue Li, but again I have heard different, to the point that there was something like 2 or 3 generations in the middlem, something about Taoist hermit carrying on the line from master Ji.

So mind share ur breathing techniques here?
Hi vivasg
First learnt the orgasm breathing ...this is the best technique . Easily learnt and no stress and natural !!! Observe during this session breathing, it goes to dan dian, no matter what non-santi stunts/pattern u are in. But 99% of pple don't observe this breathing technique when they are in this session
ok i ever try once breathing correctly done. That feeling is super relax and u can feel the qi (like a ballon) at the stomach level. Your santi is not tired, but firm on the ground. And u ready for swift attack.
Unfortunately once i start to move, the qi start to go "confused" because i can't control the breathing well (sometimes very kan cheong, and want to get the feeling again, difficult lah). So must practise lor. Sometime if u "deliberate" to breath to dan-tien, it will be difficult as adults tend to breath at the lungs level compare to baby. I m not a expert in dan tien breathing, u may have to engage other forum members here.

JB, you can read from my posting that I didn't mentioned any name beside the sentence that you ask me about, which
Quote: The famous 郭雲深 (Guo Yun-sheng) add in some northern style elements and thus became what we now commonly practise - 形意拳 (Xingyi Quan)
But I believe my lineage was not wrong.
I just want to highlight to vivasg that the different posture that he saw is due to the different add-on element by various style of Xinyi/Xingyi and not necessary wrong or right.
As for Cha Chuan in XinYi, I was told that after learning Xing Yi Lie He Quan, Ma Xie-li add in Cha Chuan element and ~poof~ -> He Nan Xin Yi Quan.

unfortunately the place of training is not at public parks or basketball courts ...trainee must provide their own resources and rooms for "orgasm dan tien breathing"

It is the 1st I ever heard anything about Cha Chuan having any influence in Xin Yi, like I said the only thing they have in common as they are some of th Jiao Men Chuan.
Read this article by Jarek http://www.chinafrominside.com/ma/xyxy/xylhhistory.html
And then get back to me, the thing I am getting at is Li Zheng was a Henan Xin Yi Liu He Chuan practitioner who taught the Dai's. Dai Xin Yi and Shanxi Xin Yi are the same thing.

So where is the best place in Singapore to learn good Xing Yi Quan? By best, I mean the master must be able to teach/explain the following:
- Xing Yi static stance eg. San Ti
- 5 element fist
- 12 animal form, etc...
+ able to explain the therepeutic effect of certain Xing Yi training, able to really use Xing Yi in combat, etc...
I believed there are not many of such masters (even in China). One probably have to learn from a few masters and piece it together.
I copy a segment of the Dragon form description from the official Ma Litang training syllabus. So I wonder whether there is any Xing Yi Master here who can explain right down to such details the rational of the form.

Just share my experience after beginning learning for 2 mths.
I think Xinyi quan is really a deep art. and really takes a long time to master.
Now I'm still focusing on my san ti shi. And I noticed that all my hidden pain had start appearing and getting better. During these 2 mths had been fall sick and some of my long time neck and back pain which i got it from internal injuries long time ago through sparring getting better now.
So I think at this stages, it recorrect my body hidden pain and making my body more strong and healthy.
Had been trying to train everyday but due to back pain pain had to stop a few days and continue. But overall i felt getting better and better. Can start feeling my hand and finger feeling a bit weird feelings when in santishi ... dunno whether is it chi or not hahaha.
Anyway Xinyi quan is great !!!
I think is quite true, that don't be greed to learn a lot at starting, learn one step one time, because even the master give u more knowledge it is really beyond our own capabilities to digest it through practice.
Introduce one good book to u guys -
Xing Yi Nei Gong - Health Maintenance and internal strength development
by Dan Miller and Tim Cartmell
Is a translation from Wang Ji Wu.
Can found this book from Kinokuniya - Taka. really a good book

Knee pain in the Santishi: I had the same problem when I began Xingyi, but haven't had a problem since I corrected my posture.
Try tucking the tailbone in - lift the pelvic region up. This places stress on the rear leg's quadricep, rather than the knee. You'll feel the strain immediately. Also, check that the rear foot is about that 45 degree angle.
Stretching is also important: I suggest stretching the muscles along the back of the leg: the ankle, calve, hamstring, and lower back. For me, flexibility in the ankle and foot is essential.
Accupunture: A one-time treatment, and further strengthening through regular Xingyi practice, settled my knee problems. You may wish to consider the same. Not to advertise, but with many ineffective and/or expensive physicians out there, I'd like to recommend Dr Chong (96284455), Sin Yuan clinic, on the 3rd or 4th flr of People's Park Centre, Singapore. I've a good number of old injuries which others didn't treat properly, but he did.
